When Is a Tooth Extraction Required?
A tooth extraction is usually performed whenever a tooth is beyond saving. For example, if a tooth is so badly decayed that root canal therapy is not enough to treat the infection, removal may be the only choice. We’ll also perform an extraction if there’s not enough healthy structure on a damaged tooth to support a crown or another type of restoration.
Occasionally, teeth might need to come out if the mouth is overcrowded. In particular, patients who need braces might need the extra space for their treatment to work as intended.
